Don and Maria Whitney were each married for 42 years and then widowed. God introduced them, joined them together and placed them on the mission field. First in Guyana South America for 2 years, then Vietnam and currently in Cambodia since 2011.
Their joy is seeing lives changed through the power of God's Word. Their covering church is, The House, Modesto (AofG) in California.
THEIR MISSION To ..."equip the saints for the work of the ministry", (Eph 4:12) thus, strengthening the body of Christ through teaching and application of the Word.
THEIR VISION To see believers grounded in the Word of God that they might stand strong, girded in TRUTH, against culture, traditions and religions.
BIBLE SCHOOL MINISTRY
Using curriculum from International Victory Bible Institute Don and Maria have established Bible Schools throughout the rural areas of Cambodia. Over 25, 2-year Bible Schools have been raised up since 2012. Their Cambodian friend, translator, and Bible School Director, Pastor Bunreth, has worked faithfully with them in setting up schools for the past 6 years. When they met, it was his dream to provide Bible Schools to the underprivileged that sparked the direction God was taking them all.
Current area instructors are pastors and leaders who have completed the two-year Bible school and have shown leadership ability. These leaders continue to be trained through quarterly meetings with the Whitneys and Pastor Bunreth.
From these Bible Schools, God has raised up new pastors, churches, cell group leaders, and evangelists. To date over 550 students have attended these schools.
The students are growing in confidence and boldness through the teaching of the Word. They are also eager and willing to teach others what they have learned themselves. By learning their authority in Christ Jesus, they now have boldness to go throughout villages and provinces praying for the sick and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.CHILDREN'S MINISTRIES - New Hope School
Besides establishing and teaching at Bible Schools the Whitney's also are involved in ministering to the children of Cambodia. They help and partner with New Hope School in Battambang. This is an after-school program that teaches God's Word and English to 200 children everyday.
Esther's House
Another ministry close to their hearts is Esther's House. Esther's House is a safe home for girls ages 6 - 18 who have been rescued from abuse and trafficking situations. We love these precious jewels that God brings to this home where they can feel safe and loved. Maria and Don are affectionately referred to as the house grandparents. When they come, they teach Bible Stories, sing songs, play games and just hangout extending God's love.
