Hello once again,
What a great month June was!!!  All the money for Jerome’s boat came in, the boat was built, and Jerome has picked it up.  He called last Saturday and wanted us to tell all of you how much he loves and appreciates your giving to this project.  For the first time in several months, he will once again be leaving to minister at another crusade in Venezuela now that he has a safe boat to travel in.  Jerome is extremely happy, and Maria & I join Jerome in saying thank you for your kindness.   May God greatly bless you for your generosity.
Maria and I are looking ahead to April of next year when we can take a team of 6-10 people on a Missions trip to Guyana with us.  If you have a heart for missions work and wouldn’t mind having an amazing adventure as well, contact us.  There’s still plenty of time to raise the funds to go, and there are souls waiting on your response.
On another note, the doctors have now taken me off all medication except for ½ of one diabetic pill a day and even now my blood sugar is starting to come back into line – Praise God.  Also in the last month I have gained back 12 pounds – I am very thankful to God for His goodness.  Getting stronger and resisting the devil everyday. The excitement in us continues to grow regarding our upcoming trip to Vietnam.   We are learning more and more about the needs there, especially with the children brought out from trafficking. We are amazed at the doors God is opening for the building of an orphanage in the Village of Madagui and the contacts and favor of God over this project with our friend and team leader, Mark Neitz, from Why Not Now Ministries.  Please keep us in your prayers as we follow God’s leading. We are anxiously awaiting to get back on the Harvest field. We thank you for your continued love and encouragement during this time.  We hope to soon be back on the field and thank God and you for your faithfulness in getting us through this time of recovery here in the States. We cannot say thank you enough.
Until then, God has opened doors for us to minister at several churches through out the summer and into the fall.  We are very thankful for the opportunities that have come to us as we continue to raise funds for the trip.
Lately I’ve been meditating on Deuteronomy 30:19 where God tells us to choose between life and death, blessing and cursing.  He goes on to say, “therefore choose life, that both you and your seed may live” – as if to say, in case you don’t know what to choose, let me tell you… choose life.  We must purposefully plan to choose life and follow Christ and His Word, in everything that we do every day, and when or if there are times that we blow it, God’s love, grace and mercy are able to restore us and help us get back on track when we come to Him.  A purposeful way of choosing life is to stay in His Word everyday and talk with Him every day. In other words, listen to Him, obey Him and stay in close relationship with Him.  Choosing to follow Christ is choosing life.
We look forward to updating you again next month.  Be blessed and strong in the power of His might.
Don & Maria Whitney
