New Marching Assignment

Violence, slavery, rape.  These are things that no child should have to endure.  And yet, thousands of children each day in Cambodia and Vietnam are enslaved in brothels, forced to beg, or abused by their own families.  Others are trapped in debilitating poverty living by themselves on the streets.

The trafficking of children into such bondages breaks our hearts.  As we join together with "Why Not Now Ministries" and the leading of our Heavenly Father , we can hardly wait to begin working on the Lotus House project.

Lotus House is the name given to this ministry of providing refuge and the warmth of a home and parents to children. Picture with us a safe village of family homes. Each having a mother, father and eight to ten children.  All playing together, loving each other and knowing they have a Heavenly Father who loves them more than anything. A place that is safe to dream and succeed. A place where all things truly are possible! What a place that will be!

Why the name Lotus House?  Here is a little definition of the Lotus flower which should answer that questions.  The Lotus flower is one of the most ancient symbols on the earth.  It's a metaphor for the unfolding of our potential as we grow towards the light.  The lotus begins as a bud in the mud at the bottom of a pond. Each day it seeks the light and moves up to the surface where it blossoms in the warmth of the sun.  At night the Lotus descends below the surface to find its nourishment in the dark, muddy waters, only to rise again at sunrise.  Each day the Lotus flower resurfaces to unfold its breathtaking beauty and respond trimphantly to the light. The Lotus symbolizes the act of rising above our circumstances and find strength in adversity to achieve our dreams.

Mark Neitz, of "Why Not Now Ministries" and his young family will be moving to Vietnam by July, 2012.  There are many details and steps between now and then.  We are raising the budget not only for us to go, but to also build one of the homes for the children.  Details will follow in future blogs.  The goal is to raise $10,000 for the first 4 bedroom home. Seems like a lot, but with God all things are possible.

Don and I will be leaving with Mark and a group of approximately 30 people, including the plan architect, on November 6th.  We will meet with contractors and others at that time to work out terms and begin the building.  While the others going will be there for only 16 days, Don and I will be staying on to get acclimated to the surroundings and oversee the building project.

Please keep this project in your prayers.  We are anxiously looking forward to the day we see that first child welcomed into their new home filled with love and safety.

P.S.
Watch this video and pray for us as we raise funds to take water filters to this particular village.
