Asia Hope Orphanage visit
Well we're home in Cambodia again and it's time to once again start making updates to the blog.
We got home on August 6th on a rainy night about 11 pm. The heat and humidity hit us the minute we got off the plane. It felt good to be back once we got home with all our 6 suitcases and two carry on bags. All arrived intact except for a minor injury to the wood lath that we brought back. Don is planning to work with the older boys in the orphanage at Battambang teaching them to make pens and other small items.
After we settled in we met with the Why Not Now Board to get caught up with the progress of the new orphanage in Cambodia and had an awesome time of prayer. We decided that while we were here in Phnom Penh we would continue to meet with them each Monday for prayer. What a godly group of men who are after the Father’s heart for the abused and vulnerable children and young women of Cambodia. It’s an honor to spend time with them.
Next we made a trip along with our friend Pastor Bunrett and his family, to visit two of our favorite orphanages. It was so good to see the children and young ladies again. We shared, sang and prayed for each one and they also sang for us.
We hadn’t visited this orphanage since last year but the children remembered us.
One of the girls I ministered to last year said she was now preparing to go to the university. She wants to be a doctor. She has been at the orphanage for 8 years and is now 18.
Another one said she was in the process of taking her exams for High School and asked that we pray for her to pass. She is 16 years old. Both her and her sisters went to the orphanage after her mother died. Their father was not able to care for them. They have lived in the orphanage for 6 years.
We shared, sang and prayed for the children. Pastor Bunrett's boys gave a demonstration of Tae-Kwon-Do then his family helped us make animal balloons for everyone.
It was a great day.
