Holiday Greetings to each of you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Don & I spent a wonderful time, home in the States, visiting with family and friends last month. We also had the opportunity to speak at a few churches as well as home groups that were so gracious to listen to us go on and on about our God adventures here in Guyana. God is an awesome God.
We also told about our friend and Bible student, Jerome, who lives in the Interior bush near the border of Venezuela and how God has been using him to go into various areas to reach people with the Gospel, where many have never heard the name of the Jesus. We continue to stand in faith that the balance of funds needed for a new larger engine for his boat, will come in for these trips.
Christmas here in Guyana is very different than back home. Everyone stays home on Christmas Day and cooks a lot but . The day after Christmas is called ‘Boxing Day’. No one seems to know why it’s called that, but it’s a day when people go visiting friends and relatives and eat lots of food. Some churches put on concerts with the children and youth, and others have special services.
Our Landlord had left a Christmas tree, which we recently unboxed and put up. We didn’t have any decorations, but we were able to purchase a garland and a few balls, and we put lots of ribbons on it. Back home at this time the tree would be full of lights, decorations and lots of gifts waiting for Christmas morning with children, grownups, laughter and fun. Reading the Christmas story has always been a favorite for me along with singing Christmas carols. Our tree is pretty bare underneath, but we hope to bring some joy and fun to a homeless family who will be joining us for dinner. The parents were saved 4 month ago in a crusade Don preached at.
Yesterday, we had cookie-making day with neighborhood children. I shared with them the story of the Babe in Bethlehem, we sang Christmas carols and watched a Christmas movie. It was a fun day especially seeing how much the children enjoyed this. There were seven children in all, and we managed to give them each a small gift and cookies to take home.

Since coming back we’ve been able to give away several Bibles. Two were given to my Bible class ladies and to Wayne from the Healing Hands Bible School, and, one to Pastor Deo and also Pastor Tom.

On January 22nd the Child Evangelism Fellowship training classes will begin here in our home. There will be 8 weekends of training for the after school Good News Clubs in our area and surrounding villages. (children 4-12) We're trusting God for a good turnout with committed people to be trained for this ministry.

We are also looking forward to Bible School classes starting. Registration will be the first week in January. We’re trusting God for funds to purchase chairs and other supplies. Thank you to Pastor Connie, and class at Calvary Temple for your donation, which will purchase a heavy-duty printer/copier for the school and Solar Bibles.

To all our partnering donors, we want to thank you for your continued support and prayers. May God richly bless your lives in this Christmas Season and in the New Year. We are praying for God’s best to be yours. One of our favorite Old Testament verses is in Job 36:11 – “if we serve and obey Him (God) we will spend our days in prosperity and our years in pleasantness and joy”. III John 2 tells us that it is God’s will that we prosper and be in health even as our soul prospers.

Father God we pray that each and everyone that reads this letter will have a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Jesus Christ. And that You will become more real to all of us in this next year. May Your will be done in our lives and the Name of Jesus Christ be high and lifted up through each of us. Amen, in Jesus’ Name.
.
Don & Maria Whitney
