It's morning here...about 9 am Thursday morning. In California it's about 6 pm Wednesday evening. We're sitting outside drinking coffee and working on our computers. The weather is pleasant. We can hear children in the school across the road playing. Sometimes we hear them rehearsing their lessons together.
This morning two of the neighbor children who go to school in the afternoon, showed up to work on a puzzle on our front porch. These farm children only go to school half a day. Soon there were 4. It wasn't even English class time. I think they just like coming over.
English lessons are getting much more enjoyable as we see the progress of the children. They are now able to put sentences together. Wow pretty soon we'll actually be able to talk to somebody!
We've been looking over Bible Curriculum for our friends in Cambodia and looking forward to a trip there later this month, to help them get started with their Bible School. Not sure where that will lead but it will keep us busy a bit while we wait for permits etc. here.
It's looking like we're going to have to stay with the blog and not try to communicate much on fb. Facebook gets turned off by the government regularly here. Unfortunately, that means we can't keep up with all of you at home either. We miss that. Send us an email whenever you have a moment. It's always good to hear from home.
While in Da Lat last week we visited an SOS Orphanage. There are 14 of them throughout Vietnam. We were able to meet with the Vice President and a local Doctor that had worked in the orphanage part time during their earlier years. They gave us a tour of the facilities and we were able to talk to the house mothers and "auntie's " who assist and relieve house mothers when needed. A house mother commits 20 years of her life to raise the children assigned to her.
We spoke to this house mother who has been there 20+ years and raised all these children who have grown and gone to a university or vocational school. They now have families of their own.
