New Hope School

We’d like to give a Shout Out to a young man we recently
met. Outh Sarith, grew up in a nearby village as a poor under privileged child with little hope of going to school or his future situation changing. Somewhere along the way he was introduced to Christ and was able to not only go to school but to Bible School as well.

He had a dream in his heart to help the children in his community by starting a school that would teach them English and Bible, (thus introducing them to Christ)… two things that would bring hope for a better future.
With this dream in his heart, Sarith was able to go to Korea and work for 3 years to save money for the school he would establish one day.  Sarith’s family had a small piece of land next to their house which they had given to him. When he returned, he was able to build a small building and a modest extension from his parent’s house to provide the classrooms needed. In 2012 his dream became reality and New Hope School was founded. He now has a morning and after school program teaching English and Bible to the neighborhood children where he grew up. Today, between morning and afternoon classes he and his staff teach over 200 children every day and close to 300 come on Sundays for Sunday School.

Talk about heroes of faith!  God can use anyone from any background or circumstance no matter how dim their situation is or started out to be. Sarith has a staff of six qualified teachers; graduates from the university, with his same heart to teach the poor children in Cambodia. Their salaries are small but their dedication is great.
The classrooms are very hot with aluminum panels between each room and one weak ceiling fan that doesn’t seem to make much difference.

From the time we first moved to Southeast Asia up until now, God has given us various assignments to physically help and or financially give to people or ministries, stretching our faith to trust Him to always provide for our needs and more so we can give to others.  There are many areas needing help here, so we look for that good ground to plant seed into.  New Hope School is one of those good ground places that we partner with in prayer and support as God directs.

Following are some pictures from New Hope School.

So excited to get a piece of chicken at camp week.
