Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas
We love this time of year when we reflect on the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. While we're surrounded by Buddhist chanting their prayers, and seeing little spirit houses in front of our neighbors homes, we still rejoice in the presence of our Lord who is with us in this foreign land and sharing with them the Joy of Christmas. Trusting your Christmas will be full of Joy, friends and family celebrating Christ's Birthday. It is our hope that God will allow us to one day celebrate this time with our family in the states. It's been 7 years since we've had the funds to be able to do this.
So what is Christmas like in Cambodia? Well, I'm glad you asked...the shopping mall's in the big city (Phnom Penh where we now live) have Christmas Carols playing in the background and Christmas decorations, trees, lights, wreaths etc. There are little street shops with Christmas lights and some with trees, Santas and other decorations that remind us this special holiday. Sadly, no signs of Jesus. Most people don't know anything about the reason for this season. It is not a legal holiday here, so for majority it's just another work day and sometimes, another party day.
