Need more language lessons

So...yesterday Duong, our interpreter, left to go do some shopping at the market. Don opened the gate for her but as she drove off another motorcycle with a lady on it stopped and got off her bike and starred at Don from across the road.  Don finally waved and she immediately signaled for him to come with a big smile on her face.  Don...began calling..."Maria, Maria".  So I came out and smiled at the lady who kept talking and signaling with her hand to come.

We walked across the road to her humble little home and met her husband who already had tea cups and tea ready for us.  They were so hospitable and just kept talking and showing us pictures of their family...  We reeeealy have to work on our Vietnamese.  Duong finally came back after what seemed like ages.  She came and interpreted for us.  Our neighbors had lived there for 26 years.  Their children live in HCMC and they are in their 60's.  They are happy we are here and want us to know that this is a very safe area.  While she works at the government school with the children during the day, during the harvest season she and her husband work in their coffee farm which often keeps them up till the wee hours of the morning.

We invited them to lunch on Friday, which is today.  Had a nice time exchanging words that we both new, but very little actual conversation.  It truly helps when Duong is here, but don't know what we're going to do when she leaves us.
